Have you ever started something, did it for a while, but didn’t follow it through until the end? Most of us have… It’s something we’ve wanted to for a while so we go through all of the steps and talk ourselves into doing it but can’t actually follow through with it/finish it/achieve it, but why…?
Well, we tend to set ourselves goals only to give up so easily because of reasons like;
“life got in the way” or “I’m too busy now” or “I don’t have the money” and so on…
We all have our reasons. But, are these things we tell ourselves really why we don’t achieve our goals…?
So what is the secret to achieving our goals?
After thinking about this for many years, I looked at the goals I have achieved and the goals I didn’t achieve. I realise now what it actually was that helped me follow through with my goals.
The secret is Persistence…
The actual definition of persistence is the fact of continuing in an opinion or course of action in spite of difficulty or opposition.
Think about all of the goals/tasks/objectives you set yourself and didn’t achieve.
Were you persistent enough to achieve them?
Was there something else you could have done to make it happen?
Whether it was a setback that stopped you, time, family, money or something else, at the end of the day, if you had persisted towards those goals no matter what, no matter how many years it would take, you most definitely would have achieved them.
There needs to be a burning desire within you to want to set that goal and achieve in the first place. So if something does get in your way, instead of thinking “oh well I can’t do it now”, Think HOW can I do it? You will give your mind the ability to think of another way to get over this hurdle that’s in your way.
Remember, these hurdles don’t just come in one size there are smaller ones and larger ones, but no matter what, you can get over or around that hurdle, just think of how to do it and don’t give up so easily.
To help you do this I have listed 3 of my favourite goal setting books below. These powerful books have helped me in so many ways. I even take one of them with me everywhere I travel.
These books will help you drastically achieve your goals, keep you persistent and help you believe in yourself and abilities.
But don’t just read them, study them, highlight pages and come back to it regularly.
I highly encourage you to read the 3 books and start doing things you thought you could never do:
Thanks for reading my blog!
